How many gardens are designed?  Not many? Why should you design your garden? 

No matter how big or how small, all gardens have unique characteristics. Which way does your garden face? How much sun does it get and at what times of day? What is the condition of the soil? What sort of things would you like in your garden? What have you seen that you fancy and will it work? Do you know how to start? Do you need someone with some flair and imagination to help you?

What we usually find is that most gardens are never designed at all, they are usually developed piecemeal over the years and the end result often looks exactly what you would expect; a set of disconnected hard and soft landscaping components which do not fit together anywhere near as well as if the garden had followed an overall design from day one.

Sometimes a client will not want to build their garden in one go, they may be constrained by budget, or they may want to do parts of it themselves. This is fine and we often work this way, but it is always better to start off with an overall design first. In many cases the clients design is already part way through its development and does not need a complete a complete makeover in which case we will try to produce a design which does it best to make the most of what you already have in place.

Our qualified Garden Designer, Peter Davis, will visit you to look at your garden, listen to your ideas, undertake a site survey and find out the kinds of things you like and don't like in your garden. Peter will revisit you after a few days with a design and proposal for you to review and keep which is normally free of charge. This proposal is normally around 8 to 10 pages in length and consists of the photographs of your garden as it is today, the design itself, a planting list, and the price.
